L'Escala Costa Brava

Enjoy the sea:
Swimming: there is a wide variaty of sand or rock beaches etc.
Scuba diving: visiting the whole coastline is a magnificent way of discovering everything, though The Islas Medes are renowned as being one of the very best places for diving.
Snorkeling: enjoy the beautiful underwater spectacle just a few metres away from the shore.
Kayak: an excellent way of finding out about the corners in the coast that are hard to get to. You can go into the most out-of-the-way caves and border the cliffs. In addition, different excursions are organised, some of which are very special, like watching the sun rise or sink.
Sailing: there are several sailing clubs in the country that will satisfy all lovers of this sport.
Winsdsurfing: the diversity of winds that so unusually blow on the coast of Baix Emporda means that lovers of windsurfing have the chance to experience the sensation of freedom on beaches where the wind is the prime element.
Water skiing: allows anyone that does this sport to go out to sea and experience the sensation of adventure and risk.
On foot - Walking
Do you like walking? The countryside of Baix Emporda offers network of paths that are signalled in line with international regulations so as not to get lost. Starting from Punta Montgo there is a beautiful walk that crosses the nature area of Muntanya that is more than 10 km wide. Along the coast and in the shade of the woods from Montgo to Estartit.
There are lots of possibilities. The area of L'Escala is is relatively flat. For more sportive cycling you aim for Rosas and from there to Cadaques ... over a 'mountain' of 600 meter. The climb is about 7 km long and the average mount is about 10%. You would like more? Take your car to Playa d'Aro. From here you cycle to Tossa de Mar. This traject, about 80 km, is the trainings route of Lance Armstrong who lives in Girona.
Very near by at ten minutes only you can visit the ruins of Empuries. You are send back in time 2000 years. A beautiful ruin from the roman times.
For who likes visiting a museum, we recommend the museum of Dali in Figueres. Salvador Dali provided us with a major heritage. The surreal painter is born in Cadaques. A very small beautiful village worthy of being visited.
And of course the beautiful town of Barcelona, at only one hour driving!
